Our BIG News this year is the launch of the Frank Peretti Award for Excellence in Speculative Fiction. Thirty years have slipped by since Mr. Peretti's Darkness novels -- This Present Darkness and Piercing The Darkness -- were released to the world. Those provocative works inspired a new genre in the ranks of Christian writing that continues to build and expand today. FRANK PERETTI WILL JOIN US AT RENEWAL TO PRESENT THE FIRST AWARD ON JUNE 1ST. He will be available to greet conferees and share some thoughts about our past, present and future roles in the writing realm. As James L. Rubart, our keynote speaker, and Frank Peretti are both Northwest Native Sons, it's a unique privilege to honor Mr. Peretti’s contribution to our region's writing community -- both Christian and general market -- as well as trace the sinuous paths of both author's careers.
